291 students from ECS to Grade 12 attended Coronation School in the 2008/2009 school year. There are 134 elementary students, 55 middle school and 102 high school students. Our school is very proud of all of our staff and students, as their accomplishments are many.
On November 13, 2007 The Garfield Weston Awards for Excellence in Education recognized the staff of Coronation School for their outstanding contributions to the success of their students. We were recognized as a School of Distinction in the category of Academic Achievement in Excess of Expectations. On November 13, 2008 we were recognized for Determination in Academic Achievement for High Schools at the Garfield Weston Awards.
The Coronation School has recently adopted a new timetable to align with the schools within our school division. This alignment allows for Video Conferencing classes that enhances and broadens the education choices for our students. The school has a Family School Wellness Worker who is available for counseling in personal and educational matters.
The goals of the school include the development of the full potential of each child. We facilitate this goal by offering the opportunity to participate in athletic and social activities which compliment the academic experience. Some of the extra curricular activities include badminton, basketball, volleyball, cross-country running, track and field, and Yearbook. Our school is also proud of our library which is a resource center where students of all ages can access materials and computers, and use them for their courses. It facilitates a quiet environment for students to work independently. We also have four mobile Mac Labs which promotes computer use for both staff and students. A student common area is available for students in middle school and senior high school.
Continuing Education
Paintearth Community Adult Learning Council and Big Country Education Consortium both offer numerous special interest, and continuing education programs in our community.
Some are done through distance learning associated with Colleges and Universities in Alberta.
